By adopting postcolonial theory, this paper will analyze Africa-Americans#8217; crisis of cultural identity in a white-dominated society, in order to investigate the social significance and make people learn more about the oppressive spiritual life of Africa-Americans. Besides, it will remind people of the importance of returning to their traditional culture. What#8217;s more, it can cause people to consider the issue of cultural integration.

3. 国内外研究现状
Since Toni Morrison#8217;s third novel Song of Solomon came out, critics#8217; attentions have been drawn to it. Scholars both at home and abroad have studied this novel from various angles, ranging from characters, themes, folklores to racism, African cultural, helotism. Theories such as postcolonialism, feminism, Freudianism, magic realism, the poetics of culture have been adopted to studies. Among those studies, crisis of cultural identity is an important one.In foreign countries, there are some studies mentioning cultural identity. For example, AL Harris, the author of #8220;Myth as Structure in Toni Morrison''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s Song of Solomon#8221;, said that the structural use of myth which shows one#8217;s constant search for reassurance in myths contributes to the success of Morrison#8217;s depiction of Africa-Americans#8217; struggle for cultural identity. According to another critic TL Walters (2007), the flying motif which derives from African and African American folklore as explained by Morrison runs through the whole novel. Milkman#8217;s attempt to fly in the end of the novel suggests that he understands #8220;the significance of being free-free from the past, free from hurt, and free from fear#8221;. This is also the expression of milkman#8217;s extricating himself from identity crisis. Besides, In #8220;An Excursion into the Black World: The 'Seven Days' in Toni Morrison''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s Song of Solomon#8221;, R Story studies Morrison#8217;s depiction of #8220;Seven Days#8221; in Song of Solomon, he points out that the behavior of these members of this group is another form of deviation from black culture, which means they haven#8217;t find cultural identity yet. At home, studies of identity crisis in Song of Solomon are much more. Taking Yang Junjun and Han Hao as an example, according to their passage, over time black women internalize the prejudice of imperialism and patriarchy, which gradually become the source of their self-cognition. Long period of such domination have done great harm to black women#8217;s soul. And this is the universal crisis and challenge for those marginalized black females. In another critic Tang Hongmei#8217;s (2004:109-114) research #8220;An Analysis of ballad in Song of Solomon#8221;, she analyzes the function of the song and the implied meaning of the theme #8220;Fly#8221;, so as to reveal how to get rid of identity crisis and gain spiritual freedom. Zheng Rongying, Yang Haixia and Zhang Shan (2014:21-22) analyze three main characters--Macon Dead II, Milkman and Pilate--to illustrate how Africa-Americans behave in the white-dominated country when they face the crisis of cultural identity. They describe Macon Dead II as #8220;black skin with white mask#8221; while Pilate as #8220;a mouthpiece for ancient African culture#8221;. In their passage, Milkman#8217;s growth symbolizes the process of returning to his nation.
